Wow, a great start to the first of the three series that Hayes released this year. Short, bleak, yet hopeful and inspiring. Looking forward to starting the other two complementary series after reading this.

Demon was great. Obviously it is part of a wider ranging series, however I decided to read Demon first, and I'm glad I did, it was a great experience with a likeable cast of characters and although I was somewhat hesitant about the main character for a little while Dien really grew on me throughout. The character arc that Dien undergoes is impressive and done in a small number of pages (200 pages is relatively tiny compared to the size of Herald). By the end of the book I was itching to pick up book 2 of the Archive series, unfortunately I will have to bide my time until the next Kickstarter and get my fix by reading Deathless next. I am very excited to see where Rob takes this series going forward and it will be my pleasure to watch Rob stretch his creative muscles.
5/5 An excellent first entry, I'll be first in line for the next one.
