I give this book 2.25 out of five stars. Though I feel this is the least toxic, trauma-bonded relationship to be displayed in this particular Colleen Hoover series thus far, the individuals themselves are still practicing toxic behaviors, feed into trauma bonding, and are unbelievably poor communicators. Instead of communicating, they repeatedly hurt their partner.

I am starting to wonder if CoHo has written about any healthy relationships.

When you meet someone who is good for you, they won’t fill you with insecurities by focusing on your flaws. They’ll fill you with inspiration, because they’ll focus on all the best parts of you.

This Colleen Hoover's book delves into the imperfect characters of Quinn and Graham as they're dealing with their relationship problems. The alternating 'Now' and 'Then' chapters lent depth and poignancy to the narrative. Through this storytelling method, Hoover skillfully emphasizes the importance of communication, support, and to never forget the reasons for committing to love someone.
As a reader, I enjoyed the honest depiction of Quinn and Graham's hardships. Their shortcomings made them approachable, and their journey felt authentic. It served as a reminder that partnerships take effort, compromise, and a willingness to confront obstacles head on. Furthermore, the story eloquently portrayed the idea that genuine love is not found in perfection, but rather in the willingness to commit to someone even when everything appears to be falling apart.
Overall, the reading experience was quite enjoyable and I finished the book in one sitting.

This book was really sad and honest. It depicted a couple going through a difficult time together and how individual, personal problems can stem from the bigger problems. It shows how easily love can seem to disappear in a relationship when there is no communication or partnership. This book definitely made me cry about 2-3 times. I also love the way it is written, switching from past to present; the duality really adds to the clarity and emotional heart-wrench that this book aims towards.

this was the first book i’ve ever read by colleen hoover. from the raw truth of a dissolving marriage and struggles humans grapple with on the daily, she had hooked me from merely the description and first chapter. while i do believe her writing style is mediocre, hoover’s ability to draw reality and place it to words astounds me.

This book was very emotional. I really empathized for the couple’s struggle with infertility, and the reader feels instantly invested in their journey through their marriage’s breaking point. I am happily in love, but always fear the possibility that in some distant future, I could find myself in a similar situation with the love of my life. The fact that they were able to overcome their greatest struggle gave me hope that my husband and I can always overcome any struggles that may hit us in the future. The couple’s emotions were so selfish and complex and deep and raw that I felt like it was a true story.

Compared to Hoover’s other works, this book left a little to be desired in my opinion. You definitely know you’re reading one of her earlier works while you’re reading it. Still enjoyable, and no doubt hopeful for those in a similar dynamic with their marriages.

Not my favorite of Hoover’s novels, but still touching, interesting, and fast-paced. I felt sad for the characters most of the book but the end is good, if a little predictable. Also, it isn’t as spicy as some of her other books.
