Araminta Spookie is back in her 2nd book. Araminta and her supposed best friend Wanda want to throw a b-day party for their 500 year old ghost. To get him the best present, ever they end up in a little bit of trouble.
I didn't think this follow up was as good as the first and I really disliked Wanda--I thought she was terriby whiney and mean.

Like the first book (My Haunted House), which I've already reviewed, I read this to our 4yo over bedtimes - it's good fun and is very very silly. I found some of the silliness starting to wear a little thin compared to My Haunted House and felt a bit more could have happened in the story, but still enjoyed reading it as a parent. I've just asked Tiny what she thought of it but she's having a bit of a grump about having to get dressed at the moment and won't do more than nod to say she liked it.
Again, in the UK edition, she's just Araminta Spook, not Spookie, if you're aiming to look it up elsewhere.

Momma says: I am really enjoying this series. Araminta cracks me up. I like how silly and weird and funny the stories are and I’m glad we found this series. The story about sir Horace and Edmund drowning did make me sad, but I’m glad that they are living in the house too.
Eleanor says: Wanda and Araminta are so funny. The story did make me a little sad too. But these books are so funny and I’m glad we found the series.

{My thoughts} – Sir Horace is one of the ghosts that Araminta has found living among them in her house. The other is Edmund. Both have become friends with Araminta and Wanda one of the new residents of her home.
These books are mostly mystery and adventure and they take Araminta and Wanda on some adventures with a bit of mystery tied into them.
In this book Sir Horace is about to celebrate his 500th birthday and Araminta wants to get him the best present she can find. While Araminta and Wanda are out running and errand with Wanda’s dad for Araminta’s Uncle Drac they come across what Araminta believes to be the best present ever for Sir Horace.
They mutually decide to go through the same secret passage that Araminta had used in the first book as a means of getting to the grotto in which the present has been left. Edmund tries to stop them from going any further but fails in his duty. The girls trek on and apparently they get themselves trapped.
Are they able to get free or do they stay trapped? What happens if they can’t get out? How will anyone find them?
Many questions and they all get answered within the pages of the book. We even get to learn much more about Edmund and Sir Horace. Things that we didn’t already know, things that help the storyline along!
I can’t wait to start the next book and see what adventure Araminta and Wanda will be going on!

Ilustrasinya tetep juara! Mantap bangeth, deh.
Nice story...

Great books to read . Nice little story and great characters that have there own place in the book . For any one that wants easy book to get drawn into

A great follow up to the first book, this one picks up right where the last one left off. Because of the narration style and in-story explanations, this could be read fine as a standalone. However, the first book is also a lot of fun so I recommend reading it.
I originally listened to the audiobook version of this. Very engaging read with great narration. However, I did miss out on the illustrations. Went back through with the e-book to see them and they pair nicely with the story.
This one is a bit darker than the first as you get more information on the past lives of the ghosts and the antics become more dire. Less mischief and more adventure as Araminta and Wanda explore and work together toward a common goal. I enjoyed seeing the development of Araminta and Wanda's friendship. Though they get on each other's nerves, they have a very sisterly bond which really enhances the story.
Enjoying this series so far. Fun narration and short chapter length. Excited to see what happens next in the third book.
