Exactly what I would expect from a book written based on a cheesy Christmas song. Apparently there is a movie from it also, which makes sense, as it kind of reads like a Hallmark movie. I was just looking for a quick Christmas read, and I found it.

A tear-evoking, tragic, wonderful, beautiful tale of love, loss, and how, through the actions of others, and the spirit of Christmas, a person can change.

So this was an easy listen and did it in one day and remember I bawled pretty good at the end. It had such a great message, great story for a popular song we all know (song still makes me cry when I'm in the mood) and just a feel good book. so definitely worth a read and shows what the true meaning of Christmas and families are. Loved this book soooooo much!

A book inspired by the song "Christmas Shoes" by NewSong. A book with two stories that intertwine with eachother. The first story is about a man named Robert, he has two kids and a struggling marriage. the second story is about a little boy named Nathan. His mom has Ovarian Cancer and is dying, and he is very sad during the holidays when everyone else is happy. This book collides when Robert is doing some last minute christmas shopping on christmas eve and Nathan is buying some "christmas shoes" for his mama. Robert and Nathan are ready to check out, and Nathan is in front of Robert. When it is Nathan's turn, he puts $4.50 on the counter, when the shoes cost $14.25. He asked the cashier, "Can I bring the rest tomorrow?"(P. 90).When he said this the cashier said no. He was heart-broken and turned around said to Robert, "Sir, I need to buy those shoes for my mother. She's not been feeling good, and when we were eating dinner my dad said that mama might leave to see Jesus tonight. I want her to look beautiful when she meets Jesus"(P. 90 & 91). He immediately pulled out a fifty-dollar bill and gave it to Nathan. "Thank you,' was all he said"

If you're looking for a Hallmark movie type of book, this is a good one, though maybe too depressing for a Christmas read. It's short, has a good message and tugs at the heartstrings. I read it with my kids (skipping a few parts) and cried my eyes out.

Read this for a readalong with Elizabeth from LizzieFayelovesbooks. This was a heartbreaking story that left me in tears. I’ve heard the song before but never knew the story behind it. Highly recommend everyone read this.

A beautiful, yet quick read reminding you of what the Christmas and Holiday season is actually about. I’ve heard the song many times, but this gave a whole new meaning to the song. Beautifully written.

3.5 probably would have rated it higher if I didn’t already know the story. I’ve been very depressed this Christmas, my dad has been put in hospice for his terminal cancer so I’ve kinda put this protective shell around me. I bet if I read this next year it will hit me very hard

Short Christmas story. Received in a mystery package and read in 35 mins. Kind of a basic story?
