I had a great time and I'm excited to keep going. I really love the growing friendship between the two leading ladies.

I can't really tell you why but I just didn't get into this. The magic system felt pretty shallow and treaded over and the characters were fine but not super compelling. I felt like I only got interested in the last 50 pages or so which were exciting and interesting but a little too late for me to up the rating any higher. Could maybe be better going forward in the series but I'm just not interested enough to.

I did enjoy this one. It was a solid book, but nothing amazing. Good is still good, and I do hope book 2 will be even better. But hey if the entire series is solid good then that is fine too. I liked the lightness of it.

I wanna get back to Anne with an E, so better make this short.

Amalia is a noble woman who becomes a Falconer by mistake. That is someone who says what the person wielding magic can or can not do. I liked Amalia, she was sensible.

Zaire is the one with magic. Eh, maybe I will warm up to her. She was so something at times.

Zaire wants to be free and hates Amelia. They must become friends.

And someone is trying to make war happen.

The worldbuilding was not the strongest, pretty weak to be honest. But the story was light and easy and fast to read. I will def read more.

Good world building but slow plot and little character development. Constant friction between the two main characters and very political-driven. May pick up at a later date. So far: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sehr flüssig zu lesende und unterhaltsame Fantasy an der Grenze zu YA. Mit einigen sehr schönen sprachlichen Momenten und am Ende vielleicht etwas zu dramatischer Inszenierung.

So, this was a "leap of faith", sort of.

2.5 stars.

I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. It was a bit dull at times.

Amalia could have been a better character - she was smart but mostly naive but when the moment needed it, she was coy enough to play politics with the city leaders.

Not a series I will continue.
