Favorite of the series so far. I think the hero/heroine in this story are very well developed and believable both in their detachment from and attachment to their families/friends/each other.

Off to reread this again, then Benjamin's story and maybe all the Lost Lords...

I really enjoyed this first-rate historical romance. Less-than-conventional characters struggling with profound emotional problems (PTSD) build a lasting and true relationship. And it's witty, with clever conversation that doesn't come off as egregiously anachronistic.

I haven't read any others by this author, and picking up in the middle of the series was no problem.

This one was much better than the second book in the series. I liked both Ethan and Alice but the whole feel of the story didn't really translate as historical romance. It felt a bit more contemporary romance playing dress up on horseback. Maybe the language, maybe the ease the characters had with each other, status, sex...

It's not bad, for sure, and it's got a lot of high ratings. I've just read other HR that I loved way more than this one.

I actually really enjoyed this Gracr Burrowes book. The writing and characters were really good. The only bad thing was the lack of smut scenes. It kind of brushed over them, but there were teasers and those were written excellently well.
