I started with the hard copy book, but decided on the audiobook since I’m in my car a lot over the summer. I think hearing the author’s voice and inflection was so amazing- there were times I nearly peed in my pants while driving. What a funny and genuine read!

I was not familiar with Wendi Aaron’s work prior to reading this book, but now I am eager to read more. She’s hilarious and the chapters are cleverly titled. I also liked how she approaches difficult topics. Overall well written and enjoyable!

I went back-and-forth on this book, chapter to chapter and even paragraph to paragraph. It definitely had some laugh out loud moments but it’s also very much written in that snarky style that was so popular on the Internet from the late 90s until around 2010. That tracks because that’s literally what she did for a living, but it was problematic then and there’s spots in this book it’s problematic now. It has this tone of simultaneously being self deprecating but also acting above everyone. Much of the humor comes from putting down others, which still has some funny bits, but mostly comes across as really defensive. I’m 37 which puts me around 15 or so years younger than the author, and I’m sure she would say that all of my criticism is because I’m a millennial… which could be true? Mostly I got bored and got some whiplash going between chapters that were endlessly about her weight and then about feminism.

I didn't mind this audiobook. I found it was an easy one to listen to, maybe a bit boring at times. I think I would have preferred it as one I could read rather than listen to as I might have gotten more out of it. I liked the narration, it was well done and a decent story, but not the most exciting book I've read or listened to. If you love audiobooks definitely give this one a try, if you're like me and prefer the written version in most cases, I would recommend that for this book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to check out this audiobook!

Loved it. Laughed out loud many times. And yes, I’m warring tunics now also.

A beautiful and funny book about a woman coming into herself. It’s not about tunics at all but much to my surprise, the last few lines made me want to go out and buy one because as Wendi says, “A glorious, comfortable future awaits.”

This book made me LOL in every chapter. I could relate to a lot she wrote. Hilarious and honest book about life as a middle aged woman.
