Expect this book to become a series. Clever idea of writing a book and have old postcards tell the story.
adventurous mysterious slow-paced

2 stelle e mezzo. NO SPOILER!

I thought this would be more creepy than it was, due to the photos used and the horror labelling but it was more akin to a goosebumps kind of horror - spooky monster gonna get ya kinda horror. Which isn't to say it's bad - I was just expecting something different.

It has an almost X-men feel when it comes to the Peculiar children - a bunch of special powered kids altogether in a house with an adult overseeing them and their education. The use of the vintage photos and time travel, with self made monsters and villains sets it up for a good series. I think it'd be a good book for young readers who are looking to move on from goosebumps. It's got enough spookiness but the reading level is a step up. The fantasy elements and world building set the story up well for future adventures.

I don't think I'll continue it myself just because it didn't really capture my attention but I'm glad to have read it so I can recommend it to younger family members in future.
