One of the essayists in this volume is from my mother's hometown Tuao. One thing that surprises me about the writers in this book is how vastly different our experiences as filipinos are. As someone from a catholic family, i never knew just how interesting tuao could be. My family was just never interested in our old roots and didn't know how to guide me when I expressed an interest. This book is worth reading of you are the definition of a post-colonial filipino.
