4.5 stars. I really enjoyed I just wished I read the originally 1818 text edition.

A struggle to read, but worth it. Like most of the classics!

The unending loneliness, struggle to belong, and eventually rage that the monster went through was deeply relatable. I loathe the man for abandoning his own son. Yes it was scary and bloody and tinged with death, but isn’t giving birth always that way? It was His. Son. I have no empathy in the slightest for him.

I could give a more academic less passionate review, since as a classic it does deserve that much respect, but I like to save that energy for school. School doesn’t allow much for my emotions so I won’t allow school into my personal business. Not unless I have to. That is all.

Wow! I didn't totally get into this until the monster/creation began his narration, as I found Victor unsympathetic. But from then on, so clear why this has been such an enduring story. Shocked I hadn’t read it before. Looking forward to Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation!
