“ew this is so cringe. guilty!”

REALLY an interesting book, although not a setting or a protagonist I would normally be drawn to (adolescent male in a private boarding school..).

It's hard to talk about this book without giving too much away, really. It's a book about how much effect one person can have on the lives of those around them, and how we all deal with life, and its incumbent ups and downs. It's about relationships, growing up, great last words, really smart teenagers, and at least ONE way to get OUT of the labyrinth..

All I can say is, read it - it's really worth the time!!

Wow. That wasn't what I expected. It was so much more.

I really loved this coming of age book by a writer I will definitely be further exploring in the near future. The honesty is striking, the questions it raises for anyone (not just teens) are truly compelling questions, and I'm left feeling a sense of loss at not having anything further to read about these characters, who were so richly developed and real.

The pivotal moment in the novel was shocking, although not completely unexpected based on how well the reader gets to know the characters. I don't think I've so closely related to or accurately remembered adolescence since my own time of adolescent fumbling, and the overall journey is relevant to anyone who has ever struggled with loss, acceptance, or any of the Big Questions.

Truly well done.

I knocked off a star—mainly because of all the things I’m asked to believe in this novel, I just can’t get over the fact that two 17-year-olds really have no idea how to perform fellatio.

Other than that, typical John Green novel of hyper-literate kids raging against the basics—although in its defense, I did stay up waaaay too late reading last night, and parts reminded me so much of why I fell in love with books in elementary/middle school.

Also, there’s dream scene that’s very reminiscent of a Goosebumps book and it made me laugh (but I don’t think it was supposed to).
