Light romance read. Leaning more towards 3.5 stars because I thought the sell on why the protagonist avoided her home town was weak and the relationship development needed more fleshing out.

This book is FUN! We follow Emmy as she returns home to oversee the spellcasting tournament that takes place every 50 years. While home Emmy learns a lot about herself along with the town & people she left behind. Her flirtation with Talia & revenge on ex boyfriend Gareth are fantastic!

I loved this book. I loved the magic, the characters, and the self-realization. I honestly didn't know what to expect going into it, but it exceeded my expectations. If your favorite Harry Potter book/movie is Goblet of Fire, but you don't want to support a TERF, you'll love this book. It has magic, romance, girls rallying together, and just queerness. You'll love this!
