This might just be one of my favorite reads ever. The first thing I'll say is that the author is an absolute artist of words; the language is beautiful, and many sentences I had to just stop and admire for how damn well they were written. The writing throughout this book can only be described as aspirational.
From beginning to end it was a nonstop thrill. The only possible downside is that I became so connected with the wonderful characters that I'm disappointed the other books in the series weren't also from Emmy's perspective and about her continuing relationship with Talia (at least not that I could see). Either way, I adored this book and I'm grabbing a hardcover for my shelf.

This shit was cute and so fun. I am a sucker for a novel involving witches and then add in a lesbian romance?! Sign me up!
There were many comedic moments, the plot was actually pretty decent as far as romances go, and I genuinely enjoyed all of the characters in this novel.
There’s no brilliant review here. I just really enjoyed it and highly recommend it for those who want a fun romance to read.

This book wasn't my favorite witchy book. I was expecting a bit more than it gives. It was just ok...
I didn't like the insta-love type romance or the magic system. I think it was maybe rushed a little bit and also the unnecessary use of so many thesaurus needing words!
I did enjoy the friendship between Emmy and Linden though. It was beautiful and sweet, which made me give it 3 stars.
Overall just ok.

I do not understand the reviews that say this book was well written. When an author uses hashtags and acronyms like TBH while a character is speaking…ugh lol. I wanted to like it but it was just so predictably boring and unbelievable. The romance didn’t make sense and the revenge plot needed more backstory.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was cute and witchy, with a great setting and a town that I wished existed just outside of Chicago. Overall, I really liked meeting these characters and am looking forward to reading more of the series.
A few critiques / thoughts: The romance between Talia and Emmy didn't feel as fleshed out as I would have liked. There was this immediate rush and attraction which then quickly morphed into "something" without enough of the "getting to know you" part. I liked them together but could have stood for more progression.
I wanted a bit more closure (and maybe this comes in later books) for Lin and even Gareth. I wanted to see where Lin overcame the terrible way Gareth treated her and how he maybe learned to not treat humans like sh*t. Again, maybe this comes later!
Finally, these characters are ALWAYS drinking alcohol. Seriously, it felt akin to alcoholism the amount that the author spoke about them getting drunk. Also, too many of the intimate scenes took place with alcohol included which made me uncomfortable. People shouldn't have to drink alcohol to feel comfortable speaking to someone or having sex with someone (and consent is important). I hope this doesn't continue in later books, but if it does, I may have to let this series go - it bothered me that much.
