i'm not sure what to say about this book. the rising action started out really good but i think there were too many conflicts to make it flow easily. i understand it's supposed to represent the chaos of senior year, and i understand the internal conflicts that come with the fake-dating trope, but some of the conflicts were unnecessary to the plot and ruined the ending tbh. especially the sub-plot of the teacher. if the book included questions of self-integrity and self-belonging and without the random conflicts that messed up the storyline, it would have been a lot better imo.

a side plot of the book, towards the end, is that a male teacher hits on one of the female students and the school staged a lock in to have him removed. The girl that was hit on retells the story to the main character, nothing happened where there was any removal of clothes but the teacher said things that made her uncomfortable and touched her hair/neck/waist. It wasn’t really graphic but still was hard to read even as someone who hasn’t dealt with sexual assault so I’d say if your worried just skip it. You’ll know when it’s coming because the girl is crying and doesn’t want to say anything and then it’s mostly over by halfway down the next page.
