I swear to God that i am one of the craziest Harry Potter fans ever!!! I love Harry Potter, i read the first 4 books while actually in London and it was absolutely amazing!!!

Let me preface this by stating I was around for the Harry Potter zeitgeist, albeit near the end, so I saw and understand the cultural impact that these books had. I also want to point out that I despise Moldemort (the author in case you can't figure it out), and unlike most people, I actually associate these books with a traumatic period of my childhood. I thought maybe if I read through them then it might help, but honestly now, I can't be asked.
With that being said, I have no idea how this book gripped a nation because I found it quite 'meh'. Maybe because I'm not a child, but I don't get it. I mean, it's not the worst thing I've ever read but if I had read this at the time of publication, I probably wouldn't have even bothered with the rest (and I didn't even now!)

Nothing you can say about these books that hasn’t already been said, good or bad. It’s probably been more than a decade since I’ve revisited them. They take you back to being 11 years old again when you had the time and the energy to love something so so so much. That’s a feeling I always miss.

Sure, there's plotholes. Sure, the writing's not earthshattering. But, as a kids' book, it's pretty much unbeatable.
(i finished this a few weeks ago) i loved this book so much!! it is one of my fav hps and i think it is a good book to start a series <3
