Alice reallly grated on my nerves. There were some funny bits and plenty of actually Interesting characters (of course she considered them weirdos/lunaticks/jerks); just not enough to make up for her annoying attitude about, well, pretty much Everything. i get it but still... cat claws down a chalkboard would have been more pleasant to listen to than her thoughts tbh. :)

I am not a professional book reviewer. In fact, I've never written one before. This story dives into such a raw journey through grief as experienced by two different people over the course of many years. You root for them. You cry for them. The tales that are seamlessly woven over the course of 11 years of once a year meetings is a unique POV that keeps you coming back to find out what happened in the last year!  It's heartfelt and heartbreaking in all the right places and laugh out loud funny in the other right places. Absolutely worth the read!

Such a beautiful example of living with grief and holding onto or letting go of the narratives we create about the people who have departed. My therapist recommended and I see why now! Great read

A poignant book about bereavement. Though the topic of the book is a difficult one, there is humour throughout it. What a rollercoaster of emotions as I was crying one minute and laughing the next, the characters were a beautiful example of how grief can bring people together and how those people can help is move forward. I also recommend the audible version, I really enjoyed the narrators.
