So the book wasn’t long. Only 311 pages but I stopped half way through. I was enjoying the book initially. The premise of this book was interesting enough and I enjoy stories that explore grief. It was written by an author from the UK and I love English humor so I’m the beginning I really enjoyed the book. Def chuckled in some places and got insight in others.
I enjoy books in general that explore grief. It’s just such a complex emotion and it’s up to the writer how to tackle it so you never know what you’re gonna get. But also when a book is based solely on grief and eventually healing it can get a bit cliché and redundant to couple with the insightfulness of it.
So with that being said by the time I got halfway through story felt like it was dragging on and whatever point the book was set to make (or at least what I gathered from it) had already been made. So at Alice and Ben’s fifth meeting I was quite bored with what they had for with their time together. I don’t hate it. I just got bored.

This was a lovely concept and I’m impressed the author stuck to it the entire book. I’ve never lost someone so close to me, but I can imagine that this book reflects the process of grief and loss well. I’m rating it slightly lower just because at times the language and dialogue was a bit basic. But overall, entertaining, thoughtful, human, and funny. A good quick read.
