Outside in one of the lowest stakes thrillers but damn does it hit deep.
un livre où, finalement, il ne se passe pas grand chose — hormis le vol de la poupée d'une petite fille par le personnage principal —, mais qui nous offre quand même une réflexion passionnante sur la maternité, plus particulièrement sur les relations qui peuvent exister entre une mère et une fille. on retrouve d'ailleurs pas mal de points communs avec L'Amie prodigieuse, et je me suis beaucoup amusée à déceler tous les détails qui sont vraisemblablement inspirés de la vie d'Elena Ferrante et qu'elle dissémine dans ses romans. j'adore j'adore j'adore cette autrice !!!

Did not keep my interest the way the Neopolitan novels did, but might want to reread in the future 🫶🏻
For 3/4 the book is amazing, then it is all spoiled by a rushed last quarter and especially the ending 2 pages, as if the author had got bored with her own story and just finished by weakly filling the blanks in her canvas and basta. It is really such a botched ending after a great beginning that I removed 2 whole stars.

my interpretation of the last line in the book is that while she’s gone and will never truly be back to who she was during/before her first pregnancy, she’s still there for them no matter how selfish she thinks she is to prioritize herself and to come back because it’s another way of taking care of herself.
