The film actually followed the book rather well. Leda is a complex character, intriguing read.

I liked how quickly the story moved and how contained it was. I loved being with the main character as she unraveled, although I supposed she was always unraveled. I like stories of women who struggle with new roles as parents. It's a new identity and even though I'm not a mother I feel like it's a huge change in life.
The beach setting was very beautiful, and the small cast of characters was easy to know.

Motherhood and its darkest side. I wanted more from this book. It’s not an enjoyable reading experience but once you start it you can’t stop.

My first read of Elena Ferrante was painful. a book that makes you ashamed to read because you know that inside all of us we all have these absurd thoughts. This story is about motherhood and its darkest sides, which few even dare to admit to themselves. after all, society has drawn mothers a standard, from which even a slight mishap awaits punishment.
during the vacation the woman and her daughter drew the professor's attention and resonates with her and seem to stir up the traumas and past experiences that have been buried somewhere deep in the memory. She is like a trigger that explodes Leda's story and allows her to reflect. At her age, Leda understands everything much better than the young mother, and in a way wants to give her a guid on what not to do. Leda's involvement seems intrusive, but she gets so involved by continuously identifying the young woman with her past self and not realizing that rescuing her won't undo her past mistakes
