this book follows a mother’s journey after her daughters moved to another country with their father
different perspective on motherhood from anything i’ve read, and i think it’s important to have books like that
i mainly felt discomfort while reading this story because the mc never should have had children in the first place in my opinion, this book is a great example on why it is important for new mothers to make their mental health a priority in order to not traumatise themselves or their kids

a slim thriller where every single word leads up to the most satisfying and crushing climax — Elena Ferrante!!! you done it again.
also can’t wait to rewatch Maggie Gyllenhaal’s adaptation of it now having read the book

I love Ferrante’s writing. It’s an interesting character study focused on motherhood and daughters. I’m still trying to make sense of the ending though, but in a good way.
Reading her writing is like meeting a friend for coffee and her telling you her life story with really thought provoking themes woven into it and you leave feeling like you had a brain massage
