Loved this series! Unique, engaging, great characters, non-stop action!

I would recommend this to anyone who loves, paranormal, a great love story, action-adventure, and unique well written fast-paced drama!

I think Clare is a brave writer to focus and delve into a relationship like the one she created between Jace and Clary. It would often times I'm sure be seen as wrong or indecent and off-putting to a lot of readers but it takes guts are real writing skill to develop their relationship, turn it in a 360 direction and then make it even more heart pounding, breath-taking and heart-wrenching. I was rooting for these two the whole way through and their forbidden love made the story that much better and only added to the intensity of the action in the entire series.

I think most readers knew they'd find a way to be together even through the impossible circumstances they were facing and I held my breath for that final moment.

Clare created a wealth of beautiful characters in the books and by the end you really don't want to let them go. Everyone grows on you in their own unique and exciting way. Alec who started off rude and surly turned into a real level-headed, vulnerable and loving guy and I love that he got his happy ending. Magnus was hilarious and could always be counted on for some comedic relief.

Jace...oh Jace, what to say about the guy who stole my interest from the first line he had. He's strong, powerful, has a charming magnetism and yet he's entirely vulnerable beneath his out worldly hard veneer. I loved every scene he was in and he always stole the best lines! Couldn't get enough of this great character.

I devoured this series in one weekend! If that's not recommendation enough I don't know what is :p

Can't wait to read Clare's next series - The Infernal Devices :)

I don't know what it is about this series. I mean, it's not that good, really, nor is it particularly original (Harry Potter and Twilight, anyone?). Yet there is something about it that renders me helpless - I must put all other books down until I consume the one in my grubby paws.

SpoilerBut why, Why, WHY must EVERY freaking YA series female protagonist be the Most. Specialest. Ever. who is capable of amazing feats that no one has ever seen before or can replicate? Was I really surprised that Clary is Super Special and can create new runes that will Save the Shadowhunters?

While we're on the topic of surprises, was anyone really surprised that Clary and Jace are - gasp! - NOT brother and sister? Gee, that little incest bit wasn't too unsettling, was it?

I suppose if I had read the Harry Potter series more recently, the similarities would bother me more, but it's been a while, so instead I just get a nagging sense of deja vu (or is it deja lu when referring to literature?).

I've also been reading the Infernal Devices in tandem (unintentionally), which makes some of the revelations
Spoiler(Imogen Herondale... wait, isn't that Will's last name? That must make her his descendant... hmm...)
rather interesting.

Not the greatest piece of literature you'll encounter, but a quick read, and I'm more drawn into Clare's Shadowhunter/Downworlder world than into her writing style and her characters, so I'll stick with it until the end.

There aren't many series I can stick with past book three, but I'm intrigued and really enjoyed book three of this series. There are good twists and turns and fight scenes.

Another excellent sequel, bringing to completion the plot that was begun in the first book. Some nice character twists and I was really satisfied to see how Clary, Jace, and Simon all finally came into their own. (I also love that these characters are not without glaring faults and they're not sitting around mooning over one another with blind affection. This is not Twilight.)

Also going to have to throw out some big props to Cassandra Clare for her strong female characters. The women in these books are completely equal to their male counterparts, and if anything, are even more important to the story (and important in ways that don't have to do with them being damsels in distress, quite the opposite). Indeed in this book, Clary's power is realized more than ever, and as much as the story seems to initially center around Valentine's son, it's his daughter that becomes the focus in the end.

Some would probably argue that this oughtn't get full feminist marks since so much centers around her feelings for Jace (and vice versa), but I would disagree with them because she's not *defined* by that love as is the case with many a female paranormal YA character (I'm looking at you, Bella Swan). There's a good dose of teen angst, but ultimately the messages of relationship are good ones, and it's not the only plot or even the main plot.

Looking forward to more. :)

for me, this book is the best of all the books in the TMI series. It finally shows more about Alecs character and his relationship to Magnus. I loved the way it ended and it just all fits
