I really, really liked this series of books. Several adult themes run through them and I am not ready to let my 13 year old read them yet. But I would recommend them to older teens.

[4.5] Yeah this shit was tight........ I'm just gonna need teenagers to stop thinking they're in love with someone they've known for like a month. That was just not realistic
Cassandra Clare has done it again! My high expectations were exceeded! People continuously told me this was the best book in the Mortal Instruments series. But it started out a little slow for me... Please don't hate me, but I was a little bored throughout the beginning of the book. Then things started to heat up. I didn't trust Sebastian from the start, and I think he made a really good bad guy. Ugh I wish I could just spill everything on here, but I can't do that to the people who actually read my entire reviews. Eventually, I will get around to making a video for this book, but I really loved it!
Spoiler
Clary and Jace fight... blah blah blah... Simon gets put in jail... okay but where's the action?Spoiler

"Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely."
A pretty fantastic finale to a trilogy, makes me very curious as to why there are three other books after this one? I mean, what else is there for them to do? I'll give the fourth book a shot, but I'm not fully convinced I want more from these characters, I hate pointless spinoffs that ruin the development and characters.
Anyways... I had a great time reading this, Jace and Clary are very cute together, and their scenes towards the end made me tear up. What can I say, I'm such a sap for sweet romances.
The plot twists sadly didn't hit hard for me, I was already spoiled for them awhile ago, but I can imagine that it would've been quite flooring back in the day.
And there were a few little nods here and there towards other fantasy stories (some of which might have even been inspo for miss Cassie), like Sebastian reading Angel Sanctuary, a manga that's famously about angels and questionable romances... and Jace saying vampires in bands are overplayed, referring to The Vampire Lestat, which got a full audible laugh out of me.
Overall a fun trilogy, and regardless of if I actually pick up the rest of TMI, I will be reading the Infernal Devices books, as I've heard nothing but good things. I won't be watching the TV show though. I watched the first episode and was utterly horrified by how bad it was. I owe an apology to the movie, it's a masterpiece in comparison.
