Cooking and home renovation shows are my favorite type of TV for relaxing. When I saw this book combined those two interests, I was interested right away.

The small town vibe and second chance romance tropes were strong in this book. I appreciated how both main characters grew and found a way to mend their relationship. They each found a way to thrive with their art and still support each other.

Thanks to @netgalley and @dialpress for the advanced reader copy.

When life changes bring Molly and Robin back together at the Hummingbird Inn there’s two things that they both can agree on. First they need to sell the inn that they restored and operated as a young married couple. Second they need to get a divorce. But when an agreement to bring the inn back to its former glory and work together to end their marriage in a kinder way takes root, can either of them walk away?
I am not normally a second chance romance fan but this one slapped so hard. I loved the town that it was set in as well as the town folks and people that Robin and Molly had been friends with before they left. I really appreciated that the reason why they had initially split was complicated for both people so that when they find themselves back together at the inn it doesn’t seem likely that they can make it work. It was great seeing both of them think about what they wanted individually for themselves as a chef and artist. When we got to the moment where they had to decide whether to stay or go, I felt like it was super believable and I didn’t think “wow those two will never make it.”

ARC REVIEW: Bed and Breakup by Susie Dumond ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
Thank you to NetGalley and The Dial Press for the opportunity to read this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Bed and Breakup follows ex wives Molly and Robin who they are accidentally reunited when they both return to these Hummingbird Inn - which they previously owned and operated together. In the years since their split Robin developed her career as a celebrity chef, but a few failed projects have caused her to reevaluate her career goals. Molly is a flourishing artist who crafts stained glass windows and is in town to make some pieces for local shops.  With both women staking a claim to their old inn, they are forced to cohabitate during their time in town, re-opening old wounds and rekindling old flames.

This is a great read, I enjoyed the setting so much! The town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas was adorable and I want to move there! I enjoyed the romance between Molly and Robin, second chance romances aren’t my favorite type to read, but this was better than most! I’ve become a big fan of Susie Dumond’s writing since reading her last book, Looking For a Sign, and I can’t wait for more from her!

Bed and Breakup releases June 24th 2025!

3.75 ⭐️ I overall had a really good time reading this. I LOVED the side characters, the queer ass small town, and the inn they were living in. I love that Eureka Springs is real & now I have recs from author (can’t believe I’d have to go to Arkansas for it!), but I just wish we had a little more out of the romance. I felt like in the 7 years they were separated, they didn’t work on themselves in a deep rooted way (hello where was the therapy). Because of that, i had a hard time with their romance in the present day & how they resolved their split from the past. I would still recommend this especially for pride month, and I had a fun time. 🩵🏳️‍🌈

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, & the publishers who sent me this ARC to read & review! <3

I’m not usually one for second chance romances, but I figured if it was ever going to be done right, it would be in the form of a sapphic small-town romance.
This was my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between the main characters was really good and while they’re both flawed in ways that led to the initial breakup, nothing was ever so over the top in the way that a lot of second chance romances are where I was skeptical about them getting back together being the "right move". I like that the author gave them a few years apart to really grow and mature as people and the openness and willingness to grow that both characters showed as the book went on.
A great romcom, lots of rom and also plenty of com. The setting was engaging, and the side characters really rounded everything out and made the whole thing so much more immersive. It was super entertaining, just a touch of spice, and overall a great low-stakes summer read. I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a nice sapphic beach read.

I wanted to like this but I didn't. It's a good concept for unfortunately they don't have chemistry. The book also ended really suddenly and it just felt weird.

I received an arc through netgalley.
