I loved this Vera. The setting on holy island was perfect! The fact that in this installment we still had the essence of Brenda Blethyn as Vera despite this book not having an episode of the tv show yet.

I only have two problems with this book. 1: I found myself screaming “stop searching for motive Vera, you have the motive! The motive is Rick’s book!” 2: Holly’s death! But that is solely, because I loved Holly, but now I’m going to watch every season with Holly and cry!

Another decent mystery. I listened to it in a day.

I can't believe she killed off Holly! That was a surprise this deep into the series. I hope the next book does something with that emotion rather than having character growth keep going in circles, which has generally been the case. I do think Holly deserved a more meaningful death and some character growth beforehand - it was already sad without also feeling that it didn't achieve anything.
