It is al lovely book, easy to read. I read it for my english book presentation. I chose it because the frond looked funny, and so was the book. There are recipes in the book, what makes it more fun to read, and taste the candy when your reading.

I loved getting to know Rosie from the beginning. I loved the way her journey started and shows you that it is never too late to change paths. Having 2 perspectives it also leads this book into historical fiction era that I love. I loved the small town feel and chasing after what you love. I love the building of new friendships. I know I read the third one first(on accident), but I can't wait to read what happens next in Book 2.

I really enjoyed this book, I would definitely recommend it. It took me a while to get into it, but once I did I couldn't put it down. I especially loved Lillian's flashbacks the 1940's.

This was such a sweet book. It made me nostalgic for things I've never had - an old-fashioned candy store, a life in a tiny English village, London...
Rosie is funny and boisterous and adorable, and I really enjoyed the small-town feel and the interesting characters.
My only gripe is the flashbacks - I understand why they were there, to set up Lillian's character, but I could have done without them. I felt like keeping it in the present time would have worked just as well, with a quick exposition of what had occurred in the past.

I enjoyed Jenny Colgan's novel - it's a quick & easy read. However, as with all her novels I've read so far, the novel felt a bit too long, by 50-100 pages.
I liked the setting of the novel in the Derbyshire county. I was surprised to realise there weren't any characters I strongly disliked (maybe just Gerard?). I did like the main characters, though, and the wit and banter throughout the novel. There were a few chuckling moments, too. Another thing I really liked were the past references to Lilian and Henry's story. I love alternating stories, past and present.
As the title suggests, there are recipes in the novel, but I skipped right over those. Another part I skipped over were the "fragments" from the book one of the main characters presumably wrote. They were about different sweets, related to the events of that chapter. I read the first few, but then I didn't find they added anything to the story, so I didn't read them. To be honest, I was just interested to see how the story ended. Although it was a bit predictable, some love interest intrigue, it was enjoyable, the perfect choice for an afternoon reading break.

Jenny Colgan has a wonderful way with characters! This book could have been edited down some and it would have been even better. I'm going with 3.5 stars (somewhere between "I liked it" and "I really liked it").

Beautiful story, I loved Lilian and Henry's love story so heart breaking but Rosie's story was so lovely too, fabulous book that makes you feel lovely and happy after reading , perfect pick me up to life xx
