A star knocked off for that afterword.. How oblivious does Joyce Carol Oates have to be to think the "sister" is literal but Laura kissing fruit juices off of Lizzie's skin is not? "Sisterhood" is definitely hungrily licking and kissing a woman's skin and sleeping with her "breast to breast" and asking her to caress and kiss you like the goblins did. This poem is clearly contrasting the hostile and aggressive sexuality of the goblin (read: men) with the loving eroticism of the love between women.

I'm currently reading "The Goblins of Bellwater" by Molly Ringle, and figured I should read this poem since the book is loosely based on it.

Also, I needed a book downloaded from my library's eBook service to count for a reading challenge, so double duty!

One of the only poems I’ve actually liked
adventurous dark

Poetry is so complicated, the longer you let it roll around in your mind, the more symbolism and meaning you find.

What can at first seem like a slightly spooky fairy tale can become a story of what happens when one sacrifices for another that indulges.

One of my new favorites and perfect for Halloween.

I don't know what to rate it, but it was good and truly an experience. I would like to reread it and get a better idea of what happened, but it holds some interesting messages.
