I started reading this book thinking that the Vegas-wedding premise was too goofy to work, that it would be clunky or awkward.....I was so delighted to be wrong. The love story was beautiful and imperfect and amazingly crafted, and the human stories were even better.

The characters are so good and so real, and I was so moved by all of them. I cried twice; the emotional resonance is that strong. Personal connection is such a strong form of art - I resonated and learned in equal proportions.

To this author, who maybe felt alone in a radio booth sometimes while writing this wonderful tale of human imperfection and spirit and connection - we hear you. I hear you, and it is beautiful.

absolutely loved it. cried throughout the entire time I was reading. Morgan Rogers writing perfectly explains many of the experiences that I've had in my life. The writing is immaculate, beautiful, so well articulated. I've never been able to see myself so much in a character until now. would definitely reread again, prepare tissues and lots of water for all the crying that will occur.

Did not expect this much introspection from a tropey romance and woah was it amazing. It was a little on the slower side for my liking but it paid off in the end. Rogers just perfectly captured the feelings of perfectionism and burnout, I've never related to a main character more. Great read!

I read this in a full haze. I’m sure it’s a great book! But this is based on how I felt reading it.

I am in love with this book and while it’s the author’s debut, I SO hope it is not her last. I picked this up from the library for a light WLW read, and it delivered that, but then so much more. To maybe share too might about myself, Grace Porter and I share a similar age and VERY similar anxiety/perfectionism tendencies and as someone who spent the beginning of the pandemic absolutely freaking out because everything was out of my control and I had graduated with a doctorate in a time of absolute chaos, I can definitely relate to that feeling of: I’ve spent my entire life working towards this one goal and had my whole life planned and then I made it. So now what? This read light and easy, and felt a bit fanfiction-Ish at times (but I’m not complaining! I was raised on it) but there is beautiful imagery and a blooming relationship and I love that it starts in a clusterfuck and has to untangle itself in a mysterious way. I was definitely able to guess a lot, but I didn’t mind. It was almost comforting. And there were moments and descriptions that reminded me of first dating and falling in love with my spouse that made my heart swell with love and pride. Definitely definitely a must read for anyone.

This book literally couldn't have come to me at a better time. It talks a lot about loneliness, which is something I personally relate to deeply, and which I think is so relevant to a lot of us right now.

Honey Girl discusses being a woman of colour in academia, academic pressure and burnout, mental health (and seeking help) and parental pressure, alongside a fun, beautiful and heartwarming romance with great banter, chosen family and a new york setting. Which is to say, it's a perfect book!!!

Guys it was genuinely so HEALING to read I can't even tell you, if even one of the elements I've mentioned sparks your interest I would strongly urge you to read it😭🙏.
