wish i'd read this sooner. it'd make a wonderful introduction to greek tragedy, particularly the Oresteia area. i really enjoyed it, although Orestes was the only play i wasn't already familiar with. but it was still a great new way to experience the story (i especially loved seeing her take on all three playrights), and Carson's introductions were just lovely. (now i'm really excited to read Antigonick soon.)
this is the perfect level of drama for me. anything less than that and I just don't see the point

I must admit that I started reading this due to ‘not to me not if it’s you’ it just does something to me. once again I reiterate it’s hard to rate collections; this is three plays put together and gets better as they go on. I’d give Agamemnon three stars, Elektra four stars, and Orestes five stars. Also Anne Carson’s translation is very easy to read I would highly recommend if you’re not into the lofty language usually used in older works (though as a person who loves that kind of thing I still recommend this translation it’s got this sort of subtle humor to it and I very much enjoyed it). this has been thots with rome.
AMAZING! I honestly bought it because I found a beautiful quote online from Orestes and I wanted to read the whole thing. I've only read one greek tragedy before this (Antigone, by Sophocles) but An Oresteia has really gotten me hooked
my ENAMOR...something with this play gradually lessened each play because damn that agamemnon translation will never top any of the other two. i will forever remember poor kassandra, ugh, im so.
"Where I come from people say bad shit
happening
when they mean death.
Another quaint barbarian idiom is real bad
shit happenin--
that covers blood on the floors
and a houseful of swords."

to borrow one of kassandra’s early lines, “[scream]”
(AC fancasts björk as kassandra in the intro…..her absolute mind…)
just dizzyingly electric, would sacrifice my youngest daughter to artemis to see these live.
