In fact, it was JUST the thing I needed in 2020 when, I think we can all agree, the world is going to hell in a hand basket and if you think something is bad it could ALWAYS be worse. I needed this book because I really needed to laugh myself to tears, to not being able to turn the page until I took ten deep breaths. SOLUTIONS AND OTHER PROBLEMS provided exactly that release.
This book is absurd, weird, funny, and absolutely consistent with Allie's brand. The art is true to style, there are some short pieces and some long pieces, some heavy pieces and some ridiculous pieces. If you like her blog or liked her first book, you are absolutely going to love her second book. If you're not sure if you like her art or if her sense of humor is compatible with yours, I'd recommend checking out the preview story "Richard" on her blog hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com. If it's not amusing in anyway, this book is probably not for you.
But, if it is... this book will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you remember that there's some good in this world worth fighting for.

There’s also a mention of people suspecting pedophilia in one situation, but no pedophilia is actually taking place.ianders's review against another edition

She still has the ability to make me laugh out loud and then cry in the span of a minute and a few pages.
Her illustrated anecdotes still makes dealing with the absurdity of life and existential dread a little less wearying.
Definitely recommend especially to fellow lonesome weirdos who need a reminder that the first friend you gotta make and appreciate is yourself. In spite of everything.
