Always fun (and informative) to read origin stories - and this origin story of the JLA was no exception. I might've liked it more had I known more about the actual characters and the inside jokes, but that was no severe hardship. Quick and easy read.

Meh. The story's fine but nothing special. I liked the premise of a team-up of somewhat lesser-known heroes, I'm more likely to read about characters like that anyway, but this comic didn't do it for me.

What annoyed me the most is that almost every single male character was hitting on Black Canary or thinking/talking about how hot she is. It was completely unnecessary and it conflicted with how the character was written as she stands up for herself and calls out her teammates for treating her differently during fights because she's a woman. She even makes a remark about being the only woman on the team and how that's not ideal but the way the comic itself is written makes it impossible to forget that. In general, male superheroes being constantly distracted by the attractiveness of the (usually one and only) female character on their team is a trope that needs to stop. (Thankfully as far as the current JLA run is concerned it did and Black Canary's in that one as well.)
Also, the jokes about Aquaman mumbling got old really quickly and why was Hal Jordan a jerk most of the time? Overall, I don't think this comic is among the best appearances of any of the characters.

I would have to say if I was going to introduce someone to JLA I'd totally use this book!

A nice long read about the early days of the Justice League (post-Crisis). What I loved best were the little details, like Aquaman's mumbling and GL's bossiness and such. Really liked that one.

I really liked this. I enjoyed the atypical team lineup. It worked well. It was a little long in places, but the final arc is both epic and satisfying.

As much as I love Mark Waid, I just couldn’t get into it. Very disappointing.
