An enjoyable case, i could see the twist coming, maybe not entirely but I guessed the red herring.

Angelica is a hot, young banker whom Montalbano has been smitten by but she's working an angle. Lots of cat and mouse here with Montalbano being taunted by a gang of thieves preying on rich folks. As usual Montalbano senses there's more to these thefts than meets the eye-it's not about the money. Montalbano seems to sense he's crossing a line mixing business with pleasure too and wonders if it's time to retire. Humor abounds as he is called on the carpet by his boss for petty stuff and Cat continues to butcher names and info of those seeking to see Montalbano. Every conversation with Cat is like an investigation but Cat does get credit for inspiring Montalbano with the solution to the case.

I hadn't read any books by this author in the past, so when our local library offered this, I thought I would give it a try. Inspector Salvo Montalbano is absolutely wonderful and so very Italian. He loves a good meal at his favorite restaurant, Enzo's. He constantly fights the corruption that is so part of the Italian system. In this most recent book, Montalbano is investigating a series of burglaries in homes of the wealthy. In the process, he meets Angelica and is mesmerized by her beauty. Even though she is much too young for him and he is being unfaithful to his girlfriend, Livia, he can't help himself. The burglaries keep on coming, and Montalbano begins to despair that he will never get to the bottom of things. But in the end, of course, he does. This was a lot of fun to read. The bonus at the end is a translation of some of the food that Montalbano's housekeeper makes for him.

I'll stick with you until the end, Camilleri, but things have gone downhill.
