This was a really good read, though it took me a bit to get into it. We follow sisters Jo and Bethie as they grow and their struggles. I think a lot of women will find the themes and sisters relatable.

This gave me this is us vibes but with sisters.

So much love for this book! My first Jennifer Weiner book, but am so glad she is prolific with an long backlist to read so I won't be on pins and needles awaiting her next. This book spans follows two sisters as they come of age through the '50's and '60's. It is the classic situation of one sister being the beauty and the other being a tomboy, reminiscent of Little Women. The book takes many twists and turns and covers an array of topics including homosexuality, interracial marriage, abortion, incest, and more.
Highly recommend!

I really loved this book. This is the story of two sisters growing up in the 50s and 60s and making their way through the 70s and beyond, dealing with societal issues that are still very important today. This book illustrates just how far we have come as a society yet still have so much more to go. What I loved about Jo and Bethie is how they are real women. I loved and hated them by turns. They had their good moments and their bad moments like all of us. A lot of books tend to portray their character as either "good or bad" - Weiner makes them plain human.

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

I loved following the sisters from childhood through the decades.
