While there were many things I enjoyed about this book, I think the thing I felt most was frustrated.  There was so much that felt like willful ignorance because things were explained well enough that I as the reader picked up on the meaning but that Fitz as the character did not and perhaps could not because they way they tried to explain things to him was not in one he could easily grasp and understand.

What a journey.  Robin Hobb has created a captivating world, where Fitz' situation just continues to get worse and worse and worse and worse.

Assassin's Quest was a fun adventure with lots of good little twists and turns along the way.  An epic conclusion to the Farseer trilogy, with (finally!) some resolution to the conflict.

What a slog. Extremely boring, repetitive, and predictable.

Bumped up to 3 stars because the ending was all right. Still quite predictable

INCREDIBLE. I AM SLAIN. God, my heart is wrenched in two.... How my heart longs for that cosmic genderless clown, light of my life.

slow-paced

You know, most part of this book wasn't too bad, except for the excrutiatingly slow pacing and the baffling stupidity of Fitz. But the more I got into this book, the more it seemed like fanfiction. It feels like there were too many plot threads that Hobb couldn't tie together anymore, so she just made shit up and stuffed the gaps with Deus Ex Machina. Also I waited this entire book to see Verity again, one of the best characters in the series,
and when we f i n a l l y find him he's not himself anymore and then just poofs. Literally.
In the end we get to know how every character we know is doing and how their life is going, and the entire time I had this gutting sense of disbelief. This is it. I'm so disappointed.
