Good YA thriller. Definitely kept me guessing, although sometimes the foreshadowing was a little strong. The final few chapters kept me on the edge of my seat! Good characters, wonderful world building, nice and neat ending.

Lauren Oliver consistently delivers addictive reads. Always waiting to read what's next.

I am so happy I finally managed to read Lauren Oliver's Panic, after having watched the TV show when it came out. As much as I loved the show, I also loved the book. It was nice seeing good ol' boring Carp again, and what the local teenagers get up to in their desperation to get out.

Some details have changed from one media to another, but I didn't mind that. I would love to have had a bit more details around the epilogue. There's a time jump, and suddenly things are different, resolved. Though I guess it's mostly YA talks that were left out at the end, and I must be grateful for my eyes that those details were not in there. ;)

I'd definitely recommend reading this book, if you haven't already. Happy reading!

Review to come.

for once i’ll say, the tv show was better

this was super disappointing. i love lauren oliver, but this book fell flat for me.

Could not bring myself to enjoy this book at all. Read about half of it and put it down because there is just something about the characters that I cannot connect with. Sorry :(

Panic is all about the illegal, dangerous game that consumed all the high school seniors every year. Through a series of deadly challenges, the teenagers jousted to win the pot prize - and it hit a whopping $67,000 for the year in which Heather Nill participates. Heather is a strong, determined and compassionate girl, who suffers from being a broken family. What I admire about this story is how she seemed to be at a dead end - yet she kept fighting on with Panic in order to survive. The main characters are involved in Panic not out of sheer willingness, but because they felt compelled to. And the way they unite and build a beautiful friendship together makes this an endearing story. A brilliant read!

Would you take part in Panic?
I think I would, some of the things they have to do, I would do for the money. The games start off tame though and then steadily get worse.

It's a more plot driven book then a charcator one, very interesting and written well. But there was just something, I don't know what it was, that stopped me from loving it. For the characters, I preferred the boys over the girls, my heart went out to Dodge in a way it didn't to Heather and I liked reading scenes with Bishop in them and not Nat who made some questionable choices that I couldn't agree with.
