 The multiple POVs made the book confusing and hard to keep track of everything. There were multiple times I had to go back and try to remember why certain characters were in certain places what their motives were, etc. speaking of POVs, I’m not a big fan of an omnipresent first person narrator how does Shigri know so much about the lives of other people? Would've worked better if it wasn’t in first person. 

On the other hand I enjoyed the dark satire I think this book would work very well as a  satirical series and would be enjoyable 

I’m definitely not the target audience for this book, and while I don’t believe that only a certain type of people should be allowed to enjoy something, this book was set in a culture I’m not part of, as a result I definitely wouldn’t appreciate this book as much as someone who lived in Pakistan in the 80s. For example the way zia is depicted. He’s not very bright, very childish overall and I wonder if this is the authors or the people around him, perspective of zia it's a joke thats funny for everyone but espiecally personal if you grew up under his rule or are familiar with pakistans history. 

I also enjoyed the writing style, it was very easy to read and hanifs use of metaphors and symbolism were very clever once you understand them.

obaid and the crow were the saddest deaths :(

As for the female characters it was very obvious that they were written by a man you know what I mean
