Yet another (#16) in the long series of Sigma Force novels from James Rollins. I think that this one was better than average for the series, and I quite enjoyed it. The multiple threads all progress at breakneck speeds, with new tech, close escapes, and puzzling conundrums showing up every few pages. The basic premise of a horrible new viral plague emerging from the jungles of Central Africa is a bit too close to recent history for comfort, but Rollins handles it well. A pretty good action adventure book, if you like that sort of thing.

Mr Rollins sir?? That was disappointing.
I’m a hardcore Rollins fan, but my god this book was long and so many chapters felt unnecessary.
I wanted the villain’s death to be a bit more brutal too, after everything he did.
But I really hate when novels have real world scenarios in them, like really? The covid pandemic?

Yet another great Sigma Series novels. This is the second time I've cried reading a book in the series. All the plots are great here and the pacing was great. I just love all the characters. This was a good one.

As action packed as usual!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review. I feel like I've been waiting forever for this next installment in Sigma to come out! I really, REALLY liked this, on the heels of the pandemic. Fascinating story/concept, well researched as always, with a few character absences and a couple special additions that were GREAT. Rollins knocked it out of the park with this one, with a captivating ride from start to finish. I don't want to spoil too much with any extras or spoilers but this one was just perfect from beginning to end.

As always, I can't wait for the next installment of this series to be released. While it was hard to read about this virus following the COVID pandemic, I appreciated the "warning" message from the author at the beginning of the book. The twists and turns in the story were perfectly orchestrated, and while I have my suspicions as to what happened to the CEO - I hope that we get a definitive answer in a future book. I love that Kowalski's big heart is becoming more evident with each book, and I can't wait to hear how his treatment(s) have fared. He may be a bada** soldier, but he is a softy at the core and I enjoy watching him open up. I hope a picture of his wall of bears makes an appearance in a future book as well - maybe even some mini versions for Sigma fans to purchase in the future.......(hint, hint) :)

A Sigma Force adventure about the threat of global pandemic, released during an actual global pandem

Rollins admits he hesitated to release this one - he had just finished writing a Signs Force adventure about a threatening global pandemic when the real thing hit - but at least this one was a fascinating adventure! Giant viruses, prions, Prester John, fungal aberrations, and viral-induced mutations make for an exciting ride!

Like most of Rollins' Sigma Force books, there is a lot of truth behind the plots to go along with the fiction. This tome takes us to the darkest part of the dark continent and deep into the Congo basin. Strange flora and fauna abound and untold mysteries also abound. Its history has been rife with plunder for the minerals and for control of the resources. Rollins weaves these into a spellbinding story that takes the Sigma Force into places unfamiliar and hostile, yet they once again prevail but not without the toughest trials they have faced to date.
