This is a book adults AND kids will love. There are lots of 'words of the wiser' sign posts to keep you feeling good. Characters continue from A Boy Called Christmas. Charles Dickens makes an appearance. There are hopeless situations where hope is not lost....and that's where the magic of Christmas comes from.

I'd definitely read A Boy Called Christmas first, but this is a great follow up. There are lots of great twists and surprising turns that will keep everyone entertained. I wouldn't be surprised if this one was made into a movie as well.

"Life is like a chimney - you sometimes have to get through the dark before you see the light" (p. 53)

My kids and I have loved reading these books this Christmas season! Of the three we’ve read so far, I would have ranked this second…my kids ranked it third. We’ll finish the series with Father Christmas and Me next holiday season. I love the message of hope that these books bring!

Leuk, maar wel veel minder en wat voorspelbaarder dan het 1e boek. Toch leuk genoeg om heerlijk naar te luisteren.

Even more enjoyable than the first book, possibly because it has a Christmas Carol feel due to the Dickens of it all. If you read and enjoyed the first book, definitely read this one. If you haven't read the first book, read it first, since you need the context, but then hop on over here for a really wonderful Christmas read.

I enjoyed this still but not quite as much as the first

[…] A huge crowd of excited elves had gathered. Everyone was wearing their favorite tunics. Most of these tunics were bright green or red. Father Vodol’s was black. Kip’s was a gray tunic with words knitted on the front: NEVER EAT YELLOW SNOW. […]

Read this to my daughters, very slowly, a few chapters a night at bedtime. I loved every minute of it. They loved it too. (I especially enjoyed giving all the characters their own voices. lol I really got into it and, to be honest, I'm, not even sure the girls noticed. I mean, poor Mary drifted, line by line, from cockney to Southern US, to somewhere in Australia...)
We're all looking forward to getting into book 3- probably won't wait a year like we did between 1 and 2!
