Matt Haig and Chris Mould have done it again. Their second installment in this Christmas series is just as hilarious and charming as the first.

I've been waiting for this book since last Christmas when I read the first story in the series, A Boy Called Christmas. The story and characters in both books are truly magical and completely enchanting. I love Matt Haig's writing and Chris Mould's illustrations and I defy you not to love them too. This is a story of hope and magic that fills the reader with a childlike excitement for Christmas.

Such a cute book. Not EXACTLY a children’s book, but also could be. It’s not the usual cutesy Christmas story. There are elves, trolls and pixies also humans. Matt Haig told the story that had me read the whole book in one day! I have added many of his others to my TBR shelf! 5⭐️

Matt Haig continues his story of a Boy Called Christmas but now we are years later and Father Christmas isn’t a boy any longer. Christmas is also a celebrated holiday all over the world! But this year something has gone terribly wrong. Trolls have broken their agreement and are wreaking havoc all over Elfhelm, reindeers are losing their ability to fly as quickly as children are losing their hope for Christmas and there is fear that we may never celebrate this most joyous holiday ever again. One little girl, Amelia, is particularly hopeless. But when Father Christmas needs help, he knows who to go to. Amelia is the only girl who can save Christmas. This series just delights me to no end and the follow up to the first book is twice as good! I LOVED this book, especially with the Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria tie ins, what a pleasant treat. Amelia is a truly special girl and despite the heartache she’s been dealt, manages to find some truly special people to call her family. I did the audiobook for one reason alone: it was read by Carey Mulligan! She embodied the sprit of Christmas so well and it was a joy to listen to her tell such a magical story. The movie adaptation of the first book quickly became a Christmas staple in my house so I REALLY hope to see Netflix’s version of this book!!

I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. A story full of hope and Christmas magic. The illustrations are fantastic. I loved the introduction of new characters, and the reappearance of the old characters. Truth pixie is still my favorite. I laughed out loud several times. Quite enjoyed captain soot, and Charles dickens! Excited to read the 3rd book!
