4.65 stars I am guilty, arrest me I enjoyed this book. Objectively speaking it is clearly a copy of several previously written books put together mainly God of Malice and God of Fury, I think it is very entertaining if you read as a book without connecting it to the previous ones but I can understand why it didn’t work for many. I had a good time, the banter was amazing and the characters dynamic addictive. it wasn’t that dark but yeah I’m not going to romanticize or excuse no ones’s actions either. While I have nothing against Gareth, I am a little disappointed in how Rina chose to make him yet another standardized prototype clone of all her previous male mc. He had the potential to be something else and Rina I know you have the potential to write complex characters because Brandon changed my opinion on your books, but as usual you preferred lazy writing

READ AND LISTENDED TO THE AUDIO**
Now, this book may have not been everyone's cup of tea but IT WAS MINE. I devoured this book and love these characters. I really enjoy how this dynamic completely contrasts with the dynamic of God of Fury. I thought it was an accurate depiction of the multiple perspectives of learning to accept that you may not be a straight man.
We got to see Bran grapple with his sexuality in God of Fury which was very different than Gareth's journey in this book. Gareth is the polar opposite of Bran in almost every way which made the contrast so fascinating to read about. Not that I sat through this book and compared it to GOF the whole time, It just crossed my mind in a few instances.
I absolutely ADORE Gareth. Yes, he is a "psycho" as Kayde would call him but I love him nonetheless. I really empathized with the way he dons a mask to try to be the "golden boy". He is just such a complex character and I felt very deeply for him. He is so violent and stabby but also babygirl- it reminds me of myself tbh. He is so funny but also has a kindness in his heart that we see at different points of this book. Gaz is probably my second favorite character of this series (behind Niko of course because MAN is that my most favorite human ever). He is also extremely sexy if you cared to know, I am just a girl who absolutely loves a fictional, psychotic man. COUNT ME IN.
Kayde was also very likeable and I think he suits Gaz so well. I really liked how he would urge Gareth to talk about his feelings and not just make an impulsive choice. I respect Kayde and really liked him. He is also hot and very domineering which I like, A LOT. I also really enjoyed how comfortable he was in his sexuality and I think that he really helped Gareth come to terms with his.
Gaz is just a sweet boy who wants to be loved and never abandoned, and I resonate with that deeply.
Rina, you've done it again. You really know how to right tf out of a MM romance with such a gripping dynamic/story. YOU ARE A QUEEN. I cannot wait for Vaughn and Yulian's story. V really stepped up for Gaz in this book and carved a place in my heart by doing so.
I also loved the Nikobran scenes because those are my babies and I miss them.
The audio for this book was phenomenal and I LOVED the narrator for Gaz. His voice is so nice to listen to and he really showed emotion through his VA. There were a few voices (because it was a cast) that I could live without but Gaz and Kayde's were not one of them. 10/10- phenomenal narration.
10/10 book!
"I love how he challenges me, keeps me sharp, and quiets the demons in the void."
