I liked the TV programme of this, and I loved The Supersizers. And I like gardening, and love it when food is the outcome. And of course, I love the original The Good Life.. so I figured maybe I should check this out!

It's a neat idea but the book really just comes off as an attempt to cash in a bit on the programme. Half of it seems to be just quoting from The Good Life and Giles' and Sue's Good Life, which as I've seen and remember quite well wasn't really that interesting. The rest was very basic and dry instructions for putting self sufficiency into action, and an awful lot of information on the new DEFRA regulations that mean pretty much everything Tom and Barbara did is impossible now - come to think of it, 'Or, How DEFRA Made The Good Life Impossible' should really be the subtitle!
