Very similar in feel to Witches of Brooklyn, with a grounding in Hindu mythology. Illustrations a bit sketchier than I always love, but the expressions come through very well. And I absolutely love how the two mom family is never the issue at hand, not ever.

This was a great read. I love the culturally specific depictions of magic. I loved the cast of characters. I love that the traumatic past of the bullies was shown, without excusing their behavior. I love that that the goddess of destruction was shown time and again as not "evil", just chaotic, and that Kali Ma loved Shakti and Shakti learned to appreciate Kali Ma. Just a really great twist on a middle grade witchcraft book. I wish there were many more like it.

Ohhhhh! This was good! Art was beautiful and the story was brilliant, though I wished the ending/resolution went a little more in depth.
