Beautiful art. Love the story. A tad predictable, but that is comforting in a midgrade/kids book.

Wonderful book on empathy and emotions through the lens of magic. Great deal of diversity within the characters.

In this beautiful graphic novel Shakti learns to control her family magic and make friends in her new school. When the school bullies try to spell the whole town Shakti must invoke the power of Durga Ma and Kali Ma to keep her family safe.

A good read for fantasy fans as well as fans of school stories who wish there was a little more magic in their lives. I appreciated that Shakti sought help from adults frequently and that her moms did help her through this journey rather than Shakti having to do everything on her own.

Shakti is the new girl in school. After a few weeks of noticing some strange activities relating two a group of students, nicknamed HEK. The teachers always call on them, and they never get in trouble. One of Shakti's moms helps Shakti defend herself and her new friends from HEK's magic. #Shakti #NetGalley

Middle-grade graphic novel, witchy with Hinduism.

I really enjoyed learning about Durga Ma and Kali Ma. Very interesting and something I've never read about before. There is also queer and diverse rep. Which I love to see. The art is beautiful. As someone newer to graphic novels, I really enjoyed this! Following the author for more :)

The daughter of 2 moms, one of whom has magical powers, fights off mean girls from school. This is the best explanation of bullying that I've seen in kidlit. Hurt people hurt people.
