After Savannah's sister Piper falls from Suicide Point, she is racked with guilt. But did she jump as the police officers say or was she pushed? As Savannah starts to find clues that lead away from her sister jumping, she ends up following the Wilderness Club on a trip as all arrows point towards one of the members as being at fault.
The narrator was terrible, overly dramatic, and just hard to tolerate. I think she made the already unlikable narrator, Savannah, even harder to stand. Both Savannah and Piper were extremely self-centered and mean to each other and at times, to others. To be honest none of the characters were very likable.
I didn't end up caring much about what had or hadn't happened to Piper and usually, I'd feel bad for someone obviously going through something but the way the book was written, it was hard.
The suspects were pretty obvious, and I was suspicious of everyone on the trip. But some were more obvious than others and the author made a very obvious choice for who the culprit was. Though at least she chose the way everything went down to not be as obvious.
Overall, a subpar book with unlikable characters who were hard to care about. I'm glad the book was short since I didn't waste much time on it and can move on to a better book now.

This book was interesting. I didn't love Savannah as a narrator as I found her very annoying and conceited at times. While I empathized with her upbringing and the constant pressure, it didn't move me to like her. I think she placed too much blame on other people for her unhappiness and not enough on herself. While her parents are partially to blame for her emotional turmoil, she also put a lot of pressure on herself and then resented Piper for it.
Also the wilderness trip takes place the last 40% of the book. I found that it wasn't as interesting as the synopsis made it seem. It's also very concerning that her parents didn't know where she was for an entire weekend - someone call CPS.
The plot twist was good and shocking. I'll admit that even I didn't see it coming but overall this book was subpar for me.

Twist and turns never stop, down to the last chapters. I thought the pacing might be too fast but it really worked out. Thought I wouldn’t enjoy the amount of twists and turns, but I feel like it added to the pressure and stress. It also felt really realistic in what a teenager could do to solve a crime. Make a lot of guesses and get a lot wrong, but keep pursuing it and the help along the way changes her for the better. Enjoyed more than I expected.

A month after Piper ends up in a coma, her older sister, Savannah, discovers a note in Piper's locker that changes everything. Savannah suspects that there is more to Piper's accident than it appears. Through her investigations, she learns that everyone has secrets and nothing is as it seems.
This was a really good YA mystery. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and many of the characters were well developed. The wilderness setting made the story even more intriguing. The entire ending, not just the resolution of the mystery, was satisfying to me.

I really enjoyed my (short) time with this book. It's a typical YA thriller set in a school / around the school setting. It follows Savannah whose sister is in a coma after a suicide attempt. Piper fell from a cliff called Suicide Point... or did someone push her? Savannah joins Survival Club to follow in her sister footsteps and shortly starts suspecting everyone of being connected to this situation. Were they guilty or is Savannah guilty?
Reading this was a fun experience and I only needed a few hours to fly through it. It definitely made me think about A Good Girl's Guide to Murder which is the best YA thriller I've read. Dead Girls Can't Tell Secrets is unfortunately not as good - it's too short, the intrigue is nothing outstanding, some reveals were very predictable and the main reveal was.. pretty lame to be honest. I wasn't surprised by the plot twist and I also wanted more - more family dynamics, more flashbacks to Savannah's and Piper's relationship, more explanation to some of the conflicts (especially the ones more deep than petty high school drama). This was a 3.5 stars read for me and I definitely don't regret picking it up! I'll be reading more from this author in the future.
