I didn't enjoy this one as much as I have previous Dickens I read. I did like seeing Bounderby being proven a liar, but it doesn't seem to have hurt him much. As before, slogging through the dialect (both Blackpool's and Sleary's), was a chore. Most of the characters were pretty unlikeable.

This novel unexpectedly turned out to be a bit of a comfort read, probably due to Charles Dickens' writing style and the animation of his characters. I found it really clever how he communicates important issues in society through his characters in an entertaining and almost comical way.  I also really liked the message throughout and the portrayal of the time period's values.

Loved it !! I forgot how much I loved reading for Dickens (:it’s been along time since the last time I’ve read some Dickensian stuff. It’s probably my second fav Dickens’s. Dickens was showing us the truth of England in the 19th century, the life in the factories, the pollution they cause, class divisions, the wretched education of that time.. and how the system was (and still honestly in everywhere around the world) is depriving us from what makes us human beings emotions and imagination and they just want to make us like machines): anyways I totally recommend this book for a start with Dickens
tense slow-paced

i mean... this entire book is A Metaphor so it definitely delivers in that regard. but also sissy was my favorite character, so of course i wanted more of her
