How's this for a beach read? So far, entertaining. Gonna read the rest of it while sitting by the pool/ocean/sipping a margarita!

Update: Turned out to be kind of meh. Not bad, just far too much talking about what they were going to do (and why they couldn't go to the police) than actual plot. But an interesting take on vampires -- it's not the "sparkling" life of Edward Cullen; these vampires are sick all the time, weak, and generally unhappy with their lot in life.

While this is not terrible, it will not receive my vote for Young Reader's Choice Award.

Sickly and exhausted vampires - meh.

Vampires. Period. Not. My. Thing.

This was interesting, but really just OK. I loved the premise, but the book kind of just dragged on. There wasn't a huge climax, but a huge denouement.

I picked this up thinking it would be about a bunch of vampires sitting around in a circle talking about the issues surrounding their vampirism. Wrong!

It is actually a mystery, one the group of reformed (they don’t snack on humans) vampires is killed and it is up to the others to discover who, for their own safety. The vampires do not have super speed or strength, nor do they sparkle in the sun. They are dead during the day, they can’t go out in the sun, and they have to wear sunglasses when they do go outside so their eyes don’t bleed, they are lethargic, often feel nauseous, and are often afraid. They survive on guinea pigs, which one of them breeds.

It is a different take on the genre and it is enjoyable. They are not terribly competent but they persevere and resolve issues that arise along the way. They also discover some new things about themselves, there is even a little romance thrown in. It is set in Sydney, which was cool. Nice to read an Australian author.

I found this just from scrolling through libby one day so I had 0 expectations going in. I thought this was an interesting take on vampires.

Very slow start, flat characters. I had to force myself to finish this. A great premise that, in the end, just did not work. A disappointment after reading "Evil Genius."

Meh. The story was okay, not great. I like supernatural stories and have read my share about vampire, witches and werewolves. This is not one of the better ones that I've read. it just seemed to never develop into anything that great and was pretty predictable.
