Overall a mostly satisfying conclusion to one of the better fantasy series I have read in recent years. It's not re-read material but it's very good. What makes it shine are the characters. Standouts for me are Lady Clara, an older noble woman and widow who plays a vital role in the war, plus has a young lover, and that's fairly unusual in fantasy. The 'villain' is equally interesting, a true Walter White character. Up until the end I was torn between feeling sorry for or being repulsed by him.

Recommended if you enjoy fantasy with a political intrigue bend.

As great an ending as you can expect. So many things left unsaid, so many things resolved perfectly. Histories and fables; the characters all tied up so nicely, left doing what they do.

And so ends my journey with The Dagger and the Coin series. I had a blast with this series that is now one of my favourite fantasy series of all time and one I highly recommend to those who love fantasy with lots of politicking, prophecies and love to see how faith can be used to control the masses and justify terrible actions.

"Love, war, betrayal, and vengeance shall spill out now upon these poor boards and I warn you, not all that are good end well.
Not all that are evil are punished. Come close, my friends, and know that in our tale as in the world, anything may happen..."

The Spider's War did definitely stick the landing, I'm so happy I got the discover such well written characters, Geder, Cithrin, Clara, Marcus are some names that will stay with me forever.
I highly recommend everyone to give The Dagger and the Coin series a try!

A fine finish to a great series.

Alas, the series ends here. It grew a little slow around the halfway mark, then rammed its way to the end in a blazing path of glory.

Excellent conclusion. I'll have to bump up the ratings on the previous books.

The reader, Peter Bradbury, was simply outstanding!
