The narration in this book reminded me of listening to a kindergartner recount what happened to them that day.

all in all i enjoyed this book. it was a slow burner and took like two chapters to really get into it but once you do it’s really brilliant, although frustrating to see the constant push and pull of characters it ultimately made it more compelling to read! i love seeing teachers stand up for queer students and this book confirmed my love for english teachers lol. release us from the grip of religious trauma

i was undeniably riddled with scarcity and longing for a book that speaks to me, and until upon reading this book I felt all of it, the emotions from religious trauma and the ugliness that comes with it — although, despite of the difference in my culture to what's shown in this book, the shame that dwells in me shudders with each religious reference shown. If I ever dared to stand up, then I wouldn't have been falling behind. My heart that has been swelling from sadness did not overcome the happiness I felt for the couple, and their trusted one's support. I am grateful like a person winning the lotto, there are things i'm always able to find that God provides to battle the bully inside me, to accept the abundance of love by liking yourself first.
