I absolutely adore this book! I can already feel it having a special place in my heart. The message was beautiful and I think this story could help so many religious queer people like me. I wasn’t expecting this book to end happily and I can’t express how much it meant to me that it did. The characters felt real and their problems felt real. The way it was all resolved felt natural and right and I just really loved this book. I cried a lot throughout this book because of how much it felt like me.

This was painful to read sometimes because the main characters were suffering and :(((((
I really enjoyed it, though. Great writing, and believable friendships!

This is such an incredible book. I loved the realness between the relationships of the characters. There was heartbreak, and love. I loved seeing the characters develop into their own unique self. Baker and Hannah had such a special relationship even if they couldn’t always be together. Definitely recommend this to any WLW (and anyone tbh) out there :)
When I first found this book, I was quite hesitant to read it. I dreaded some of the topics that would come up (Religion, discrimination, homophobia etc) but I'm glad that in the end, I decided to give it a shot.
Quindlen has written such a beautiful story, not only did it make me feel deeply but it also made me cry. My heart broke for what the girls went through. It also made me realise that not everyone has a safe bubble or space in which they can be open about who they are and in their own time.
While this is a story, it speaks of an important truth, that there are many across the world and in our communities today that have similar experiences to what the girls have gone through and it breaks my heart. I can only hope that in time, we all become more accepting of everyone.
This one is definitely worth the journey it takes you on and Quindlen finishes it up nicely too, for which I am grateful for.
