Since I can't tell much without giving away the first two books, how about I just say that I've requested my library buy the fourth book as soon as possible!

Ghostly Echoes delves further into Jenny Cavanaugh’s murder when Jenny requests Jackaby and Abigail’s help. The case is a decade old – it’s cold. But when a recent case is eerily similar, Jackaby and Abigail realise that the case isn’t as cold as they originally thought. New evidence comes to light, secrets are uncovered, and Jenny’s murderer is more dangerous than any of them realised – and the case itself is much bigger than Jenny.

Ghostly Echoes is the penultimate book in the highly fun, engaging, and humorous Jackaby series. However, Ghostly Echoes, because it delves into Jenny’s murder, does take a more darker and series tone, but I was impressed that it also kept some of its light and fun aspects. I liked how the story came together – I liked how William Ritter weaved the story and how events, people, and clues that we saw throughout Jackaby and Beasty Bones came together or made a reappearance.

The world building is great and I think it’s really unique and just plain fun. I like that the world building isn’t treated too seriously – it’s humorous and interesting. I’ll always recommend this series to people looking for a fun and light paranormal read.

I liked that we got to see more of a backstory to both Jenny and Jackaby. I did feel like they were more fleshed out and developed than in previous books, so that was a positive. BUT, I do wish we got more development with Abigail, especially considering she is the protagonist, and I felt like she was sort of… put to the side a little bit in Ghostly Echoes.

Overall, an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next one. A great addition to the series, and anyone looking for something a little bit different in the paranormal genre should definitely pick this series up. And if all that doesn't persuade you to give this series a go - just look at those covers, wouldn't they look beautiful on your shelf?

I can't wait for the next one!

I cannot fully express how much adoration i have for this series. It isn't the best written book I've ever read or the most cleverly plotted book I've ever read or the most edge of your seat, nail bitter I've ever read. But it has become one of the series I hold most dear to my heart. It is sweet and fun and quirky, just full of whimsy and adventure. Everything about these books warms my heart and makes me feel so happy and bright. And darling Jackaby is my heart of hearts.

Now allow me to praise Ghostly Echoes specifically.
I FLEW through this book when I actually had the spare time to read. I swear, there wasn't a dull moment to be found. Ritter swooped us from one plot point to the next with a sense of grace in his writing. I never felt rushed or bored or confused as the plot kept building until the very end. If I have one complaint, it would be that I feel at times I don't get enough characterization. Like I'm forced to stop just before I get to know one of them. The only character I feel a real sense of connection with, would be Mister R.F. Jackaby, himself. And I am obsessed with him. He is such a beautiful, odd, complex character, and I am smitten.

I cannot state often enough that more people should give this series a try. It's remarkable. I'm trying so hard not to fly out of my apartment this very moment to find the next book.

Ghostly Echoes is currently my favorite book of the entire Jackaby series so far. I really liked all of the plot elements, the cast, and how things happened. I loved the inclusivity at the beginning of the story as well, and the way Jackaby goes about talking to Abigail about it.
