Short Review: I really liked book 2 and wanted to read this as soon as i could after it came out, and now i'm mad i used up a Hoopla checkout on it. I was so bored, i skimmed some parts! That's a horrible sign. There was barely anything happening, we had some random deaths but we really didn't have much of a "mystery" to follow. I need more Duck! So disappointed.

Despite it being 4 years since I read the last one, I was able to catch up quickly and remember most of the relevant information. I was surprised at how easily I got back into the characters - possibly because they seem like composite characters of books I have read and tv shows I have watched - they aren't overly unique, but whatever. This one veered into fantasy/myth territory, but not in an off-putting way. I am glad I decided to continue with series.

I liked it. Better than the second book. There's definitely going to be another one, which is good. It's weird, but I have this tiny hope that Abigail acquires the sight at the very end of the series, whenever that is. I wish Charlie had been in this one a little bit more.
This is the first depiction of an after life I've seen that made my heart sigh and go, "yes, I wouldn't mind that, if there has to be one. That sounds lovely and not boring at all, for once."
Ghostly Echoes is definitely my favorite book in the Jackaby series so far, though the fourth might win over it - I'll find out in the next couple of days! I'd do a longer review, but I really can't do a great one on series books other than the first book in the series unless I'm talking to someone who has also read and loved the series and we're just gushing about it. I'm not sure why that is! I do novels just fine for the most part. All I can say is still "Buffy meets Sherlock Holmes, if you like that idea, pick up the entire series and go at it because it's perfect!"

So far I’ve really enjoyed the overall storyline of this series, but this one just wasn’t that great. It had its moments but I found too much of it to be just randomly thrown in without any real reason
I picked this up from a friends of the library sponsored book swap shelf. When I started this I quickly discovered that it is the third book in the series. However, the author has introduced past elements of the ongoing story of the detective Mr. Jackaby and his assistant Ms. Rook in a way that as a reader I wasn't lost by not having read those books first. I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced paranormal mystery. It did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but I shall be tracking down the next book hopefully the next time I visit the library.
